In the Rabari village of Sumerasar, 103 children are being immunized with the help of this Grandmother. She has called on all the women to bring their children to be immunized, and they have come! Rabari people have preserved their semi-nomadic lifestyle and their traditions. They live is a very closed society in villages spread accross the desert and they have little or no access to modern medecine. Before the program started in 1994, there were 265 polio cases in a year. There were no cases in 2005.(photo Jean-Marc Giboux).
