FEBRUARY 12 & 13, 2009 : BONDAS, GADABAS , TRIBALS COME FROM THE HILLS FOR THE THURSDAY MARKET IN ONUKUDELLI, SOUTH OF JEYPORE IN WESTERN ORISSA. THIS IS PART OF INDIA'S TRIBAL BELT. THE BONDA  OR BONDO ARE AN ANCIENT TRIBE OF PEOPLE NUMBERING APPROX 5000 WHO LIVE IN THE ISOLATED HILL REGION OF SOUTHWEST ORISSA, THE BONDA ARE A SCHEDULED TRIBE IN INDIA AND ARE ALSO KNOWN AS REMO (MEANING "PEOPLE" IN BONDA LANGUAGE). THE TRIBE IS THE OLDEST AND MOST PRIMITIVE IN MAINLAND INDIA AND THEIR CULTURE HAS LITTLE CHANGED IN OVER THOUSAND YEARS. THEIR ISOLATION AND AGGRESSION PRESERVED THEIR CULTURE DESPITE THE PRESSURE OF AN EXPENDING INDIAN POPULATION. WOMEN WEAR THICK SILVER NECKLACE BANDS AND LONG COLORFUL NECKLACES MADE OF BEADS.
