.VARANASSI, UTTAR PRADESH, INDIA - SEPTEMBER 12, 2005 : People use the ferry to cross the monsoon-swollen Gange river in Varanassi to reach Ramnagar and the Maharaja of Benares's Palace on the opposite side. Varanassi is one of the Holiest place in India, drawing millions of pilgrims every year. The Maharaja's Palace in Ramnagar is a witness to the ancient grandeur worth of a princely state, long lost since independance and democraty. (Photo by Jean-Marc Giboux)
