.RAMNAGAR, UTTAR PRADESH, INDIA - OCTOBER 5, 2005 : Villagers and pilgrims watch the night performance of the Ramlila, surrounded by giant effigies of demons on October 5, 2005. The Ramlila is the play of the Hindu scripture 'the Ramayana', translated into Sanskrit by Tulsidas in Varanasi 500 years ago, which depict the adventures of the god Ram and his flight against the Demon God Ravana. The Ramlila of Ramnagar has been organized by the Maharaja of Benares since the early 1800s and is still the most authentic, a reference to other Ramlilas.
